Cadmium and Kidney Disease | Heavy Metal Renal Failure
Cadmium is a heavy metal in the same group as zinc and mercury.
In industry, most cadmium is used to make nickel-cadmium batteries. Tobacco smoke contains cadmium and smokers may have a higher level of blood cadmium that non-smokers. Recently, the FDA has raised concerns about some imported children's jewelry containing a level of cadmium.
