What are the main findings of the study?

We find that hemodialysis (HD) patients were at an increased risk for both
ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke compared with the general population.

While previous public health initiatives have focused primarily on controlling cardiac disease among dialysis patients, our findings provide evidence that HD patients should be monitored more carefully for stroke development.

Look for stroke development carefully; take effective and preventive intervention strategies.
