Hemodialysis.com Editor Marie Benz: What are the main findings of the study?

Response :Among anthropometric parameters only body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference( WC)  were the only parameters found to be related with sleep disturbance.

None of the anthropometric parameters were related with daytime sleepiness.

Hemodialysis.com: Were any of the findings unexpected?

Response : Although waist to hip ratio and conicity index are also related with BMI and WC they are not related with sleep disturbance.

This was realy an unexpected finding given the fact that BMI and WC are related with sleep disturbance.

Hemodialysis.com: What should clinicians and patients take away from your report? 

Response:
Regular follow up of patients with respect to sleep problems and anthropometric parameters should be performed.

Whether improvement in anthropometric measures will result in amelioration of sleep problems needs to determined

Hemodialysis.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this study?  

Potential mechanisms should be investigated regarding the anthropometric measures and sleep disturbances since the reasons may not only related to mechanical issues
