1.What are the main advantages of the 2008T? |
The 2008T is ground breaking technology for the renal industry. It combines Fresenius Medical Care’s most advanced hemodialysis delivery system with a Clinical Data eXchange (CDX) to provide care givers access to complete patient data and facilitate real-time adjustments to therapy and care plans at the chair side.
|
2.What are the advantages of the 2008T over older model 2008 series devices? |
In additional to a variety of ergonomic enhancements designed to improve clinician interface, the 2008T is a ground-breaking technology for the renal industry.
Through development of the Fresenius Clinical Data Exchange (CDX), users can access clinical medical information systems directly from the 2008T system. This innovative, integrated approach provides immediate access to all dialysis treatment and clinical trending data traditionally held in multiple locations.
|
3.How does the 2008T improve workflow and productivity in a dialysis center? |
By permitting access to both dialysis treatment and medical information system (MIS) data from the 2008T machine, clinicians are able to streamline work flow by accessing and entering medical information at one location.
This eliminates the need to interrupt patient chair side interaction to enter/access data from other locations on the treatment floor, thereby reducing the potential risk of incomplete data collection. It is also designed to reduce risk associated with cross-contamination of dialysis and MIS equipment in the treatment facility.
|
4. Can an operator work on more than one patient’s information at a time or are they limited to the patient receiving treatment? |
We believe that clinicians will find great value in accessing patient information via the 2008T CDX directly at the chair side to promote “one on one” charting.
The 2008T CDX, however, is also an open platform and can display and access any information made available by the clinic’s MIS, including access to more than one patient’s information at a time.
|
5.What backup system is available for the patient information system? |
All MIS software is stored within the clinic’s information system and thus backup capacities and protocols would be managed through the clinic operation and IT protocols.
|
6. What software systems work best or are compatible with the 2008T? |
Currently, the following medical information systems are certified for utilization with the 2008T with CDX:
MIS Vendor
Clinical Vision CCI
CyberRen Cybernius
NephroCare Fresenius Canada
FMiS Fresenius USA
TIME HII
DialManager+ MIQS
DiaPro GAIA
QCS QMS
Clarity Visonex
eCube FMS
|
7.How is the keyboard and machine exterior kept clean? |
The keyboard, touch pad, and exterior surface can be cleaned based on clinic policy and procedure and are fully compliant with surface disinfection guidelines of CDC.
|
8. What are the maintenance requirements? |
All maintenance requirements are within industry standards and are outlined in the 2008T User’s Guide. |
9.What is the warranty and how is it supported? Are extended warranties available?
Is there a separate warranty for the software versus dialytic capabilities? |
| Fresenius Medical Care offers a standard warrantee for all of its hemodialysis delivery systems. For warrantee details, please refer the various User Manuals and Guides available via the corporate website, www.fmcna.com. |
| 10. How has the 2008T performed in the field? What feedback has Fresenius received from technicians using the new model? |
We have been very pleased with the way the 2008T has both performed and been received within the clinical and technical support environments.
Most clients have been impressed with Fresenius’ continued focus on cutting edge technology as realized with the CDX concept.
The clinical teams have provided positive feedback regarding the overall size of the display screen, the ability to toggle between dialysis and MIS screens, and the new status light location.
Equipment technicians continue to praise the consistent hydraulic offerings which reduce overall training burdens and allow for low preventative maintenance costs.
The introduction of the Diasafe auto test after chemical disinfectant has also been well received. |
| 11.What developments or further improvements do you anticipate? |
For over thirty years Fresenius Medical Care has made significant technological enhancements to provide nephrologists and clinicians with the tools they need to improve the lives of patients with kidney disease.
With the introduction of the 2008T with CDX, the organization is poised to deliver additional real-time information for comprehensive monitoring and trend-based intradialytic adjustments. Areas for consideration include anemia management, hydration management, and bone-mineral metabolism enhancement offerings.* |
*All medical device and program development projects will be commercialized after appropriate approvals from internal and government authorities. |
